Day to Day
Indeed is seeking an experienced product / data scientist to help make Indeed’s machine learning and artificial intelligence systems more fair, less biased, and beneficial for job seekers, employers, and society. As part of the Responsible AI team, you will propose, design, conduct, and present rigorous analyses of our largest and most important systems. You will work with other scientists, engineers, and researchers to build and test tools that make it possible to develop AI systems responsibly and quickly. Your work will be regularly presented to senior leadership across the company and will inform significant product and engineering decisions. Additionally, you will partner with cross-functional teams, evangelize your team's work, and stay updated with the latest advancements in the field within a team that values continuous learning. Responsibilities
- Help define, develop, and implement metrics for analyzing the inputs, outputs, and impact of ML and AI systems
- Design, implement, and scale scientifically rigorous analyses to evaluate and address issues such as unfair bias
- Partner closely with product and engineering teams, security, privacy, legal, and other cross-functional partners to define and implement responsible development practices
- Develop cohesive knowledge of Indeed’s broad array of products and systems
- Understand a quickly changing regulatory landscape and help ensure compliance, including working with legal to convert regulatory requirements into technical deliverables
- Translate complex, ambiguous questions into concrete analysis and action and assist colleagues in doing the same
- Communicate technical information to audiences with a wide range of technical and non-technical expertise, including senior leadership
- Mentor colleagues in best practices, collaboration, and appropriate statistical methods
Skills/Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Math, Statistics or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a data scientist, product scientist, or academic equivalent
- Experience with highly regulated industries or compliance initiatives
- Excellent statistical and quantitative analysis skills, with expertise in topics such as exploratory data analysis, regression modeling, experimental design, and measurement theory.
- Experience with with AI and ML concepts, including fundamental knowledge of algorithms and evaluation methods and metrics
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of proficiency in working with different data platforms to identify and obtain data
- Proven Python programming skills, especially with Python data tools or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new programming languages
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Math or Statistics.

Austin (Metro Area) 154,000 - 224,000 USD per year
New York City (Metro Area). 171,000 - 247,000 USD per year
Seattle (Metro Area). 164,000 - 239,000 USD per year
San Francisco (Bay Area) 180,000 - 260,000 USD per year
Remote - US 154,000 - 224,000 USD per year
Salary Range Disclaimer
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
