Job Title: Director of Nursing Classification: Exempt Education - Bachelor's degree (BSN) - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Mississippi (required) Experience - A minimum of one year work experience in management/administration - Preferred two year work experience in substance abuse and/or in an inpatient setting Duties and Responsibilities - Supervise nursing staff - Oversee nursing training, assignment/orientation of new staff to nursing - Serve as a mentor for nurses - Conduct department documentation related to medical services, including but not limited to: MARS, medication disposal, prescription refills, policies & procedures, medical profiles, chart reviews, and incident reports. - Keep up to date on Substance Abuse and Mental Health Evidence-Based Practice Nursing - Directly, and through subordinate staff, supervise the assessment and monitoring of all newly arrived clients - Review all medical documentation and conduct regular quality assurance and quality improvement reviews to ensure that all appropriate record-keeping is performed on a timely basis - Assess and evaluate staff; develop methods to use and enhance strengths and to isolate and minimize weaknesses - Act as a liaison with families when there is a medical concern - Conduct medical department meetings - Manage schedules for all nursing staff. - Ensure Nursing Manual is updated as needed and meets compliance with DMH and The Joint Commission. - Approve all admissions through Pre Decision form before the client is enrolled - Fill in on shifts that are not covered as needed. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Physician
